Termites are known for their ability to cause extensive damage to wooden structures, including homes, furniture, and even paper products. They can go unnoticed for long periods, silently eating away at the wood within your walls, floors, and ceilings.
Subterranean Termites are the most common species found in Caboolture. They live underground and create mud tubes to travel between their nests and food sources. This behaviour allows them to remain hidden while they consume wooden structures, leading to severe damage that may go undetected until it’s too late.
Drywood Termites inhabit dry wood and do not require contact with the soil. They are often found in furniture or structural wood, making their presence more challenging to detect. They create small exit holes in the wood, through which they expel frass (termite droppings), but by the time these signs appear, significant damage may have already occurred.
Dampwood Termites prefer wood that is already decaying and typically thrives in moist environments. They can often be found in trees or timber exposed to moisture, making them less common in well-maintained structures.
